Everything will be fine in the end.

Our customer A.M.I. has developed a new treatment device for the detection of arteries in pathologically enlarged haemorrhoids. And we produced all 10 components that make up the device - including the tools. The challenges were high: among other things, 2K injection molding (two different plastics in one part) and ultrasonic welding of the 2 outer housing parts were used.

Of course, our headline alludes to the end of our intestines. Because if not everything is good there - at the anus - then we have a problem. In Germany alone, there are around 3.5 million cases of hemorrhoidal disease every year, of which around 50,000 require surgical treatment. It is therefore a widespread disease, even if it is still taboo in the public eye.

 

With this new device, blood vessels in the anus that have gotten out of hand can be detected and ligated. It makes the treatment of diseased hemorrhoidal arteries much easier. The body of the device is made up of a total of 10 individual components. And just as many tools were needed to mold all the plastic parts. As parts are light-conducting, the demands on transparency were very high. The surfaces also had to be guaranteed to be 100% burr-free. The compact design of the device also demanded extremely high precision. In addition, a so-called film hinge was realized on a component.
